Local journalism in the United States is virtually dead. And when there’s no free press, eventually there’ll be no democracy. And if you live in a red state, it’s even worse.

If you live in any red area, you can almost guarantee there is no journalistic watchdog keeping an eye on the local men with the money and the power. What better project for your new Blue group to do than to start up your own online local “newspaper.” A little bit of reporting goes a long way, and it’s a great place to share your opinions and to explain our agenda. This endeavor can be your public Voice.

Even if it’s just a few of you, your neighbors will be happy to have a place to go where they can read about what’s really happening in your town. Michael Moore explains how he did a similar thing when he was twenty.

Listen and share.
